Health Relations Support Team
(coming soon!)
The Healthy Relations Support Team was formed to encourage positive communication in our congregational community.
Some Reasons to contact the HRST could include:
-
You find yourself approaching another church member with fear or resentment instead of compassion and curiosity
-
If your efforts at improved communication are proving frustrating
-
If you find yourself increasingly discouraged or not feeling heard

Team Members
Paula Hillman Joanne Nelson Greg Sanden
I am Paula Hillmann and have been a member of LCUUC for 12 years.
I've served the church in several ways - as Finance Committee Chair, Board Member (President 2019-2020), Caring Circle Coordinator, and am now part of the newly created Healthy Relationships Support Team. I am married to Greg (also a member of LCUUC) and have two grown children and two grandchildren.
Professionally, I am a counseling psychologist affiliated with the Shore Clinic (www.shoreclinic.com/hillmann), and also work for the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture's Farm Center as a Wellness Counselor and Mediation Advisor.
My training and life coaching approach guides and supports people who are experiencing problems related to trauma and transitions related to careers, caregiving, illness, aging, end-of-life issues and grief/bereavement. Before retiring from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Emeritus, 2013) I completed Mindfulness Training aligned with experts at the UW's Center for Healthy Minds. I work with people from many cultures, and with those who have gender variances.
My Education/Training is from the University of Wisconsin-Madison: Post Doctoral in Counseling Psychology; PhD Lifespan Development & Cognition; MS Psychology of Giftedness & Creativity and K-16 Academic Administration; BS Child & Family Studies.
Joanne Nelson is a founding member of LCUUC and has served on many committees and as a board member during the last (nearly) thirty years. Her children grew up in the church and she enjoyed helping with their RE classes. Joanne’s professional life centered around clinical social work and she currently enjoys developing and leading spirituality and writing retreats. She holds an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars and an MSSW from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is certified by the McLean Meditation Institute as a meditation and mindfulness teacher. More information about Joanne can be found at wakeupthewriterwithin.com
I am Greg Sanden and I have been a member of LCUUC for 25 years along with my wife, Kristin Sanden.
We raised all 3 of our kids with the support of this church and enjoyed the many years of Religious Education, parent groups, retreats, camping and auction gatherings. I have enjoyed many support roles here including the choir, RE teacher, Board member, Committee on Ministry, and the Facilities Committee. In my work life, with over 25 years of engineering management experience in small and large companies, I have enjoyed connecting with my teams as individuals and supporting them where they are. I am driven by people connections in my work and home life. I have a BS from UW-Madison, majoring in History of Science while working at an Engineering firm, and being a proud member of the UW Band.
Foundational Resource
The foundation of our UU faith, and of this restorative framework, is the concept of Covenant. Review the following document as a reminder of our shared intentions, or as a next step on your journey towards healing a rift that you sense developing in one of your relationships with another member of the LCUUC community.
